Permissions Guide

Configure permissions for screen recording and device access with CocoShot.

Understanding Permissions

CocoShot requires specific permissions to function properly. These permissions allow the extension to access your screen, camera, microphone, and other system resources needed for recording. Understanding and properly configuring these permissions is essential for optimal functionality.

  • Storage Access: Required for saving recordings locally and managing files
  • Tab Access: Needed to interact with and record specific browser tabs

  • On macOS, ensure CocoShot is added to the Screen Recording list in Security & Privacy
  • On Windows, check if any security software is blocking screen access

Camera or Microphone Not Working

If your camera or microphone isn't working:

  • Verify that no other applications are using the camera/microphone
  • Check that permissions are granted in both the browser and operating system

  • Ensure the camera/microphone is not physically disabled

Permission Best Practices

For optimal security and functionality:

  • Only grant permissions when you trust the extension
  • Review permissions periodically and revoke unnecessary ones
  • Keep your browser updated to ensure security patches
  • Be aware that some permissions may be requested only when needed
